Massachusetts region-specific reports & videos from Culture + Community in a Time of Transformation

This series of Massachusetts regional reports and videos is part of Culture + Community in a Time of Transformation: Focus on Massachusetts, a “deep dive” commissioned by the Barr Foundation to help connect the cultural sector across Massachusetts with the experiences and needs of its communities and audiences during the pandemic and beyond. The reports compare the survey responses of people living in different parts of the state, sharing highlights about residents’ attitudes, behaviors, and hopes for the arts and culture sector, the kinds of change they want to see in arts and culture organizations, key building blocks for a more resilient and relevant sector, and the impacts of online and offline experiences in people’s cultural lives.

These findings are based on more than 8,000 survey responses collected from Massachusetts residents and more than 75,000 national responses to the second wave of Culture + Community in a Time of Transformation: A Special Edition of Culture Track — an equity-focused, pandemic-era research collaboration between Slover Linett, LaPlaca Cohen, and Yancey Consulting.

These regional reports are in addition to our state-wide and Boston area reports from the same series (see links below), all developed by Slover Linett in partnership with Barr’s Arts & Creativity team and in dialogue with community foundations and arts practitioners around Massachusetts.
