Evaluation of an art-science collaboration funded by NSF
We were pleased to serve as external evaluators on the National Science Foundation-supported Art of Science Learning initiative, a three-city, multidisciplinary effort to integrate informal STEM and arts-based learning to foster innovation. Our study investigated the effectiveness of the AoSL curriculum in generating innovative solutions to civic challenges, strengthening innovation and creativity skills in students and professionals, and publicly conveying the value of arts-based techniques in science-related innovation. The initiative included “innovation incubators” in San Diego, Chicago, and Worcester (Mass.) in partnership with informal STEM institutions in those cities. (Note: Audience Viewpoints conducted a research study separate from this evaluation.)
