Busy times around here. We’ll be posting a new, full-time Research Coordinator position in the next week or so, and we’re also looking for some high-level analytical help over the next six months on an hourly basis.

Specifically, we’re hoping to collaborate with a quantitatively trained grad student, postdoc, or consultant who can help us conduct a mix of pre-planned and exploratory/iterative analyses of the large survey dataset from Wave 2 of Culture + Community in a Time of Transformation: A Special Edition of Culture Track — a national research collaboration supported by several foundations.

The analyst should have significant experience working with complex, weighted survey data and performing factor, cluster, multiple regression, latent class analysis, and other descriptive statistics. Mapping/GIS skills are plus but not necessary. The project timeline is tight, so efficiency, flexibility, great communication, and attention to detail will be necessary, and most of the work will need to be done in SPSS for the sake of integration with our team.

We’re expecting to pay in the neighborhood of $30 per hour, and may need up to 10 hours a week on average over the period June through November. (Some weeks will be less, some more.) Knowledge of racial and economic equity issues in social research would be very valuable in this work. Experience in the arts and culture sector is not necessary but would be welcome.

If that’s you, please say hello. If you know anyone who might be interested, or are willing to help us spread the word, please share this page. My colleague Madeline Smith is leading the search and will work closely with the freelance analyst; her email is madeline@sloverlinett.com.

(There’s no formal job description in this case; this page is it. The other job posting I mentioned, for a research coordinator or manager, will be a full-time staff position based in Chicago. Stay tuned!)

Many thanks, and I wish you a happy and safe reemergence in the weeks and months ahead.
